Grace Hartigan (1922-2008) became a nationally known artist during the 1950s, a period still dominated by the male artists of the Abstract Expressionist movement. This exhibition explores one of Hartigan’s most important themes, great women in history.

In addition, this exhibition also marks Dr. Mattison’s long career at Lafayette College and celebrates his retirement, bookending his career at Lafayette having curated Hartigan’s work as his first and last exhibitions.
