Minerals to Pigments to Paintings

This exhibition features the work of first-year student researchers guided by Dr. Eric Hupe. In this FYS course, students are immersed in an interdisciplinary inquiry that incorporates scientific analysis, art historical interpretation, and creative expression. Students look at how natural resources, particularly minerals, were used as the basis for creating pigments that then were used by master painters for centuries.
