100% wool pile knotted on a cotton foundation. This is a Hamadan carpet woven in or around the northwest Persian city of Hamadan. The field of the carpet would be described as an all over design (no medallion) with a primary color of navy. The main field design elements are multiple diamonds which are composed of flowers and what appear to be cruciforms at the center of the diamond. It has a very rectilinear look to it. The carpet has five guard borders and one main border which is ivory with flower heads connected by stylized vines and leaves. It appears to be missing its last guard border around the entire perimeter.
