Embrangledscape showcases the work of Boston-based installation artist, Debra Weisberg. The exhibition extends outside the gallery and into the building lobby, featuring densely collaged works on paper along with sculptural forms. Weisberg’s abstracted works draw from archetypal systems of growth, flow, and movement, such as root systems and lava flows.
Embedded in Weisberg’s lobby installation is Paula Gil Higa’s prize-winning dance video, The Migrant Body. Weisberg blends her visceral homage to the unstoppable growth of living forms with Higa’s quiet meditation on the transitory invisibility of the immigrant experience. Improvisational performances by Higa will be scheduled throughout the exhibition.
