Seven exhibitions to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence
Lehigh Valley 250, a partnership of four cultural organizations, will offer a multi-site series of seven exhibitions, over three years (2025–28), that invites general audiences to examine the founding and early growth of the United States from the viewpoints of the peoples of Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. Lafayette College, Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society, Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, and Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites will collaborate with humanities advisors to provide fresh perspectives on the area’s essential role in the nation’s development. Themes will consider the innovative industrial production that supplied the Revolution and the new country, the responses to the Revolution among its diverse population, and how the Revolution transformed community life. Rare primary materials and historic sites will elucidate how Lehigh Valley residents distinctively experienced and contributed to the American Revolution and the emerging nation.
