An exhibition highlighting rarely-seen treasures from Lafayette College’s Art and Special Collections, a trove of rich resources for scholars and students. The art collection includes 18th- through 20th-century American and European paintings, prints, and sculpture; vintage photographs; and contemporary American sculpture and paintings. Skillman Library¹s Special Collections and College Archives houses a number of manuscript collections, including papers of Lafayette faculty and alumni, manuscripts of local historical interest, and collections of national scope, as well as rare book holdings.
Art collection treasures include recent acquisitions–a painting by Theodoros Stamos, print by Joan Snyder–in addition to original pen and ink drawings by Thomas Nast, American paintings, and vintage photographs by Eugene Atget and Harry Callahan. Selections from Special Collections include a drawing of Benjamin Franklin by illustrator Howard Chandler Christy, and an Egyptian papyrus.
